Mission
LifeBrook China, an outreach program of LifeBrook Communications, is a cross-cultural teaching and service ministry, dedicated to building bridges of understanding, cooperation, and deepening fellowship between the people of North America and China, primarily through non-sectarian spiritual principles and practices.
Closing the Gap
Closing the Gap is the flagship program of LifeBrook China’s stateside mission. Through informative and dynamic trainings, workshops, seminars, and correspondence courses, ChinaLight provides information and experiences designed to deepen our understanding of China, its history and culture, and the changing face of the nation as it marches forth into the 21st Century. Particular emphasis is placed on the present role of religion and spirituality in China and how Emergent Christianity especially meets the needs of the growing number of spiritual seekers in the “Middle Kingdom.”
Cultural Interface Program
Through its Cultural Interface Program, LifeBrook China provides opportunities for hands on service in China. After an intensive 10-day training program, participants travel to China and engage in direct service work addressing a specific area of need. The program offers participants not only the chance to serve in China, but also provides opportunities for meeting people and making valuable friendships.
Publication Program
LifeBrook China publishes growth oriented, spiritual literature that is carefully written, cultural sensitive and addresses the unique character and needs of Chinese living in Mainland China. These publications are available in simple English and in Chinese. In addition, LifeBrook China develops innovative English as a Second/Foreign Language materials, designed for Mainland Chinese university students and others interested in learning the English language. These language-learning materials are focused on the goal of assisting people to become positive, spiritually fulfilled persons.
Business/Organizational Consulting
In today’s global marketplace, China is playing an increasingly strategic role. With its large domestic market and its rapidly expanding production capabilities, China is fast becoming a profitable resource for companies around the world. However, it is important to understand that conducting business in China is not the same as doing business in western countries. China has a cultural history stretching back over 5,000 years and Chinese cultural expectations play a significant role in how business is carried out on a daily basis.
In light of these cultural and linguistic differences, LifeBrook China offers consulting services for businesses and organizations that plan to pursue trade with companies in China. We can tailor workshops, seminars, and other training venues to meet specific organizational needs, with the goal of making your business experience with the Chinese more harmonious, enjoyable, and profitable. Language instruction and translation services are also available.
