As many of you know, I am a loyal member of the United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church has been in the vanguard of the relief efforts in the Philippines and for this I am very grateful. I wanted request that you continue to offer up prayers for the people of the Philippines, who are suffering greatly in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.
What many of you might not know is that I am a survivor of Hurricane Andrew, which tore through Dade County, Florida in August, 1992. The storm itself was bad enough, but the months afterwards were even worse. Shortages of all manner of daily necessities was commonplace. I am sure things are much worse in those outlying areas in the Philippines. I humbly ask that you prayerfully consider doing what you can, but especially, taking time to pray for these victims of the the storm’s fury.
